Dramm - Replacement Solenoid Valve Coil
Brand: Dramm
Replacement Solenoid Valve Coil
Replacement coils for Dramm SVB and Pro-Series solenoid valve bodies. A coil is the part that fails first on a valve that lives in a wet, hot head house, and swapping it takes minutes against the hours of pulling and re-plumbing a valve body. Three electrical types are offered, and they are not interchangeable.
Match the coil to the controller, not to the valve. The 24 volt AC coil is the standard continuous-duty coil for a mains-powered controller, which is what most Dramm irrigation and mist panels put out. The 24 volt DC coil is the continuous-duty equivalent for a DC output. The 6 to 20 volt DC magnetic latching coil is a different animal: it draws current only during the switching pulse and then holds its position with no power at all, which is what battery-powered and two-wire decoder controllers require. A latching coil will not work on a continuous 24 VAC output, and a continuous-duty coil will not work on a pulse output, so confirm what your controller sends before ordering.
Specifications
| Coil type by option | 24 V AC continuous duty; 24 V DC continuous duty; 6 to 20 V DC magnetic latching (pulse) |
| Fits | Dramm SVB and Pro-Series solenoid valve bodies |
| Valve range served | Dramm publishes the SVB valve range as 24 VAC |
| Compatibility rule | Latching coils need a pulse output; they will not run on a continuous 24 VAC output, and the reverse is also true |
| Latching behaviour | Holds position without continuous power, which is why battery and two-wire controllers use it |
Configurations
| Coil | Part number |
|---|---|
| 24 volt AC | SVBAC24 |
| 24 volt DC | SVBDC24 |
| 6 to 20 volt DC - Magnetic Latching | SVBDCL12 |
Key Features
- Restores a valve without disturbing the pipework
- Continuous-duty coils in both 24 V AC and 24 V DC
- Magnetic latching coil covers a wide 6 to 20 V DC pulse window
- Latching coil holds state with no standing current, so battery life goes to the controller not the coil
- Cheap enough to hold as shelf stock for a house running many mist valves
Ideal Applications
- Replacing a burnt-out or water-damaged coil without changing the valve body
- Converting an existing 24 VAC valve to battery or latching operation
- Spares stock for greenhouses running many mist valves
These fit the Dramm Pro-Series valve bodies on the companion listing; note that the ii ri Bluetooth controller is fitted the same way, by removing the valve coil and putting the controller in its place.
