Dramm - Pro-Series Solenoid Valve, 24 VAC
Brand: Dramm
Pro-Series Solenoid Valve, 24 VAC
Dramm Pro-Series valves are 24 VAC diaphragm valves for irrigation and mist zones, in four NPT line sizes. Dramm builds them to shut off quickly, which matters most on mist: as Dramm puts it, a faster acting solenoid closes much faster, turning off misters quickly and preventing larger droplets. Dramm rates the size range at 24 VAC, 1.2 W, so one controller output type serves the whole line.
Size is the easy half of the decision - match the valve to the line. Valve Type is the half worth thinking about. A Standard Solenoid simply opens and closes the zone, and is available in all four sizes; the 3/4 in, 1 in and 1.5 in standard bodies also carry a flow control stem so you can throttle a zone at the valve itself. A Pressure Reducing Solenoid, offered in 1.5 in and 2 in, both switches the zone and holds a set outlet pressure downstream, which is what you want when one manifold feeds zones that need different pressures; it costs roughly twice the standard body of the same size, so it is worth specifying only where a separate regulator would otherwise be plumbed in.

Key Features
- Fast closing - Dramm rates the solenoid as closing in milliseconds, which keeps mist droplets small
- One electrical standard across the range - 24 VAC, rated by Dramm at 1.2 W
- Flow control stem on the 3/4 in, 1 in and 1.5 in standard bodies for throttling at the valve
- Pressure reducing bodies hold a set outlet pressure as well as switching the zone
- Coil is a replaceable service part, so a failed coil does not mean a new valve
- Accepts a battery Bluetooth controller in place of the coil where no control wiring exists
Ideal Applications
- Zone valves for greenhouse and nursery drip irrigation
- Mist and propagation valves where a fast close prevents oversaturation
- Pulse irrigation where the same valve cycles many times a day
- Pressure-reducing zone valves where one manifold feeds zones needing different pressures
Drive these from a Dramm MistTime, Villa or ProLine controller, keep spare coils on the shelf, and fit a screen filter upstream so the diaphragm seat stays clean.
