The ii ri is a battery operated, Bluetooth connected irrigation and misting controller that runs one solenoid valve with no wiring at all. It fits by replacing the valve's coil, so an existing manual valve becomes an automated one without a control cable, a panel or a transformer. There is no screen or controls on the unit - the whole program is built in the iOS or Android app and uploaded over Bluetooth.
Both options are the same controller; the only difference is the size of the solenoid valve it arrives mounted on, 3/4 in or 1 in, and they carry the same price, so this is purely a plumbing decision - match the valve to the line. Dramm also publishes a controller-with-coil-only version for fitting to a valve already in the ground, which is the one to ask for if you are retrofitting. On scheduling, it will irrigate up to 6 times a day, run on selected days, or mist, with a minimum duration of 3 seconds and a minimum interval of 10 seconds; that puts it between an irrigation timer and a mist controller.
