Adjustable Pressure Regulator 3/4 in

The colour in the option name is the setting spring fitted inside the regulator, and each spring is an adjustable band rather than a fixed setting - there is a screw on the cover and the regulator holds whatever point you set it to within that band. Yellow covers 7 to 18 psi, white 12 to 36 psi, red 29 to 58 psi and black 50 to 87 psi, all on the same 3/4 in body. The second choice is the body: the standard body passes 0.9 to 22 gpm, and the low-flow body runs from 0.04 to 13 gpm. Being direct acting, it responds immediately to what happens downstream and holds constant downstream pressure as demand changes.

Pick in two steps. First the spring: find the outlet pressure you want and choose the colour whose band contains it - yellow 7 to 18 psi, white 12 to 36 psi, red 29 to 58 psi, black 50 to 87 psi - then dial the exact figure in on the cover screw. The bands overlap on purpose, so if your target sits in an overlap (white and red both reach 29 to 36 psi, red and black both reach 50 to 58 psi) take the spring that puts your setting nearer the middle of its band rather than at an end. Then the body, chosen on flow. The standard body covers 0.9 to 22 gpm and is the zone regulator. The low-flow body starts at 0.04 gpm - about what four or five 2 lph emitters draw - because it carries a throttling plug and elastomeric seal that keeps it regulating under near-zero demand, so it is the one for a single bench, a short basket line or one dripper station where a standard body would spend its life below its minimum flow. You give up the top end for that: 13 gpm rather than 22.

Key Features

  • Colour-coded setting springs: yellow 7-18 psi, white 12-36 psi, red 29-58 psi, black 50-87 psi
  • Adjustable within its band on a cover screw, so the set point moves with the season and the crop stage instead of being fixed in manufacture
  • Direct acting, holding constant downstream pressure with immediate response to demand
  • Low-flow body regulates from 0.04 gpm, which is a handful of emitters rather than a whole zone
  • Standard body carries a full zone at up to 22 gpm
  • Glass-filled nylon body with a stainless steel spring and a nylon-reinforced diaphragm
  • Installs at any orientation and can be inspected in line without unplumbing it

Ideal Applications

  • Setting different pressures on different zones off one manifold as crops and stages change
  • Non-compensating drip line and drip tape flow fixation
  • Lateral final burst protection
  • Pressure reduction for marginal plots and low-lying blocks
  • Single sprinkler or irrigation machine flow control

Fit a screen filter upstream, set and check the outlet pressure with the gauge test kit, and remember Dramm PCAS emitters want 15 to 50 psi at the dripper and about 25 psi at the manifold - white spring territory; if you want a fixed setting with nothing to adjust, the preset regulator listing covers 10 to 40 psi in three flow classes.
