360 Degree Misty Mist Nozzle

The fine end of Dramm's 360 degree overhead range - small orifices that break water into mist rather than a shower, for propagation benches, plug irrigation, humidity and mist cooling. This page carries two genuinely different nozzles: the three standard Misty Mists, which run on an ordinary greenhouse line, and the High Pressure Grey/White, which is built for 73 to 435 psi off a high pressure pump. All flow figures below are gallons per minute.

Decide standard or high pressure first, because that choice is not a matter of degree. The three standard Misty Mists throw a 6 ft pattern from a line 5 ft above the crop, mount topside, bottom side or on 1/2 in PVC risers, and install with a Dramm Assembly Insert; within them colour is the orifice and the orifice is the flow - Blue/White 1.00 mm at 0.17 gpm at 36 psi, Red/White 1.25 mm at 0.27 gpm, Black/White 1.50 mm at 0.39 gpm. Dramm names Blue/White specifically for raising humidity and mist cooling, on short automated cycles because of its output, with the line hung as high as the bay allows and nozzles 6 ft apart. The High Pressure Grey/White is a different nozzle: a 0.75 mm orifice giving 0.12 gpm at 73 psi, a 10 ft pattern, 10 ft spacing, topside mounting only, and no Assembly Insert - the pipeline has to be drilled and tapped 3/8 Whitworth directly. It also requires a high pressure pump and filtration equipment to work at all, so ordering it for a 30 psi house line will not produce mist.

Specifications

Pattern Standard Misty Mist 6 ft diameter with the pipeline 5 ft above the crop; High Pressure Grey/White 10 ft diameter
Orifice Blue/White 1.00 mm; Red/White 1.25 mm; Black/White 1.50 mm; High Pressure Grey/White 0.75 mm
Flow, standard nozzles Blue/White 0.17 gpm at 36 psi and 0.22 gpm at 73 psi; Red/White 0.27 and 0.35 gpm; Black/White 0.39 and 0.50 gpm
Flow, High Pressure Grey/White 0.12 gpm at 73 psi; 0.19 gpm at 145 psi; 0.24 gpm at 290 psi; 0.27 gpm at 435 psi
Spacing Standard nozzles 3 ft along the line and 6 ft between lines; Blue/White in the humidity and cooling role 6 ft apart with no overlap needed; High Pressure 10 ft apart with the line as high as the bay allows
Mounting Standard nozzles topside, bottom side or on 1/2 in PVC risers, with No-Drip check valves required for bottom side; High Pressure topside only
Installation Standard nozzles take a Dramm Assembly Insert; the High Pressure nozzle cannot use one and the pipeline must be drilled and tapped directly
System requirement The High Pressure nozzle requires high pressure pumps and filtration equipment; the standard three do not
Reduced pattern, standard nozzles For a 5 ft diameter, lower the pipeline to 3 ft, space nozzles at 2 1/2 ft and pipelines 5 ft apart
Thread 3/8 Whitworth, shared with Dramm's Pin-Perfect and Nifty nozzles
Supplied Individually or in 250 count bags

Configurations

Model and Orifice Part number
Misty Mist Blue/White - 1.00 mm - 0.17 gpm at 36 psi MM-BW
Misty Mist Red/White - 1.25 mm - 0.27 gpm at 36 psi MM-RW
Misty Mist Black/White - 1.50 mm - 0.39 gpm at 36 psi MM-KW
High Pressure Grey/White - 0.75 mm - 0.12 gpm at 73 psi HP-GW

Key Features

  • Three standard orifices from 1.00 to 1.50 mm covering propagation mist, plug irrigation and humidity
  • Blue/White is Dramm's own pick for raising humidity and mist cooling, run on short automated cycles
  • Standard nozzles hang under the pipe with No-Drip check valves as well as mounting on top
  • The High Pressure Grey/White is a separate 0.75 mm nozzle for 73 to 435 psi and a 10 ft ultra fine pattern
  • Flow is published at two or four pressures per nozzle, so a line can actually be sized rather than guessed
  • Same 3/8 Whitworth thread as the rest of Dramm's overhead range

Ideal Applications

  • Overhead mist propagation
  • Plug and liner irrigation
  • Raising greenhouse humidity
  • Mist cooling on standard pressure lines with Blue/White
  • High pressure fog cooling with the Grey/White nozzle and a suitable pump

The standard nozzles install with Dramm's Assembly Insert, No-Drip riser and No-Drip extension check valve; the High Pressure version needs the drill tap instead, and Dramm names its run-out valves for drip control on those lines.
