High pH buffered powder cleaner for severe organic fouling and colloidal fouling.

RoClean P111 is a multicomponent, high pH, buffered powder cleaner formulated to remove severe organic fouling including polysaccharides, severe colloidal fouling, and moderate humic and fulvic acid fouling. It is applied to break up and disperse biofouling and particulates, resulting in decreased differential and feed pressure. It contains a blend of proprietary buffers that dissolve organic foulants and disperse colloidal particles.

Fill the cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water and heat to the maximum temperature acceptable under the membrane manufacturer guidelines, which sharply increases cleaning efficiency. Add enough P111 for a 2 percent solution by weight for moderate to severe fouling, or 1 percent for mild fouling, and recirculate to mix. Run the solution through each stage individually for at least 60 minutes, with an optional soak of up to 8 hours on heavily fouled elements. Monitor pH throughout and rinse each pressure vessel with RO permeate before returning to service.
