ColorPoint Cutting Tools

ColorPoint is Dramm's line of hand cutting tools for production and retail crews. Every cutting tool in it runs corrosion resistant stainless steel blades, a lock for storage and a molded non slip grip, and the pruners and shears come in six colors, so a grower can assign a color per person or per bench and know whose tool walked off. What separates the models is blade geometry and cut capacity rather than build quality: a straight scissor shear for flowers, a compact bypass for small woody stems, a heavier bypass for shrub work, and a narrow bladed shear for hydroponic and indoor crops. The belt holster on this page is the accessory that keeps a compact tool off the bench.

Choose the Tool by what it has to cut. The Compact Shear has straight fine point blades and is the flower cutting and deadheading tool; the Compact Pruner has a curved bypass blade rated to 1/4 in and takes the woody stems and perennials a shear would bind on. The ColorPoint Bypass Pruner steps up to 5/8 in on a cast aluminum frame for nursery stock and shrubs. The ByPass PRO Pruner - Midsize is the maintenance choice at 1/2 in, because it carries a blade gap adjustment gear: when the cut starts to tear you close the gap instead of retiring the tool. Both Hydroponic Shears share the same 3 in narrow fine tip blade, spring action body and yellow handles, and the only difference is the blade itself - the Stainless Steel Blade version is bare steel, while the Titanium Coated Blade version puts a hard coating over the same stainless so sap and resin release instead of building up on the blade faces and pivot, which is the difference between cleaning blades once a shift and cleaning them every few plants. The Cutting Tool Holster clips to a belt, pocket or waistband and is sized around the Compact Shear and Compact Pruner.
