Barbed Poly Tubing Fitting

These are the barbed fittings that join, turn and branch Dramm polyethylene lateral line. Dramm runs its bench and PolyRail laterals in 16mm and 25mm polyethylene, and every fitting on this page pushes into the bore of one of those two sizes. Dramm's own PolyRail repair procedure is built around the barbed coupling: pull a foot of poly out of the rail either side of the fault, cut it, splice in two couplings and snap the tube and fittings back into the extrusion. Get the tubing size right before anything else, because a 16mm barb will not seal in 25mm line and a 25mm barb will not enter it.

Three choices, in order. Fitting is what the joint does: a Coupling joins two lengths in line or splices a repair into a cut run, an Elbow turns a lateral at a bench end or around an obstruction, and a Tee branches a lateral or drops a run off a header. Tubing Size has to match the line in front of you, 16mm or 25mm, measured on the poly Dramm supplied rather than on the nominal size of the threaded plumbing feeding it. Style separates the two barbed families Dramm carries: Insert Barb is the plain barbed body that pushes into the tube, and RingLoc is a second range Dramm stocks and prices separately at 16mm, so extend or repair a bench in the style already fitted rather than mixing the two on one line. Allow a clamp over the tube at each Insert Barb joint, and remember that a 25mm joint will be an Insert Barb because RingLoc stops at 16mm.
