The AME is Dramm's horizontal air flow fan for greenhouses: a shrouded, wind tunnel tested housing around a sealed motor, built to homogenize temperature, humidity and CO2 rather than to blast a narrow jet down the house. The hood gives the fan leverage, pushing air forward while pulling it in from behind, which builds momentum along the range so a layout covers the same space with fewer fans and less connected load. Both sizes are the same design and the same 208-240 V single phase supply; what changes with size is air volume, current draw, noise and the size of the housing you have to hang. Neither size ships with guards, because a guard costs any fan capacity: hung 8 ft or higher above the floor no guard is needed, and below that a guard set sized to the fan is ordered separately.
Fan Size is the only choice, and it sets air volume, electrical load and physical size. 350mm (14 in) is the smaller fan: 1,430 rpm, 171 watts, 1,850 CFM (3,275 m3/h) at no static pressure, 47 dB(A), 0.8 amp nominal and 0.9 amp maximum, in a housing 15.75 in square. 400mm (16 in) is the larger: 1,648 rpm, 250 watts, 2,860 CFM (5,310 m3/h), 50 dB(A), 0.9 amp nominal and 1.2 amp maximum, in a housing 17.48 in square. Electrical figures for both are quoted at 230 V, and a different supply voltage moves them. Because the system is designed to run at roughly 40 to 60 percent of maximum speed most of the time, fan count and spacing decide performance more than the output of any one fan, so size the fan to the bay and the controller to the bank: divide the controller's amp rating by 0.9 amp for the 350mm or 1.2 amp for the 400mm to get the number of fans one controller will carry, and use the same maximum figures to size the circuit. Neither fan includes mounting brackets. Four holes in the corners of the housing take 1 in square tube, angle bracket or strut, and Dramm's instruction is to mount that hardware on the outlet side so nothing obstructs the intake, to hang the fan level and rigid, and never to hang it on chains.
