Water hammer arrestor kits absorb the pressure spike that occurs when a solenoid or zone valve slams shut downstream of a Dosatron system. That shock wave travels back up the line and is a leading cause of cracked injector housings, blown seals, and split fittings.

The stainless arrestor installs in the supply plumbing and gives the surge somewhere to go. On any NDS driving solenoid-controlled zones, this is protection worth fitting rather than an optional extra.
