DAB DTron 3 Submersible On-Demand Pressure Pump with Com Box

The DAB DTron 3 is the measured and connected member of the 7 in DTron platform. Where the DTron 2 switches on a mechanical setpoint, the DTron 3 reads the system with a pressure sensor and a flow meter wired into its board, then reports what it sees over the power cable to a Com Box controller that DAB packs with the pump and pairs at the factory. Starting and stopping remain straight on/off at line frequency, about 10 seconds of run-on after the last tap closes; CSA certificate 80018347 tabulates the DTron 3 control type as ON/OFF at every duty point, and the inverter driven machine in DAB's submersible range is the EsyBox Diver. Nothing here is variable speed.

What the Com Box Adds

The Com Box needs no signal wiring. It communicates with the pump by Power Line Communication down the supply cord, and from its face an installer can:

Two accessories extend it further. The DConnect Box 2 gateway (item 60198037) puts system pressure, alarms and remaining tank water on a phone or tablet through DAB's cloud service, and DAB's NFC water level measurement sensor (item 60184570) works with the DTron 3 and that gateway only, never with the DTron 2. Both DTron models take the simpler NFC Float (item 60184577), which seats in a pocket on the pump and signals the board with no wiring and no opening of the housing. A DTron 3 can also be paired with a second identical DTron 3 in twin mode so the standby unit starts by itself if the duty pump fails.

Mechanically the DTron 3 is the same rugged build as the rest of the platform: technopolymer casing, diffusers, filter and three impellers, AISI 304 floating and stationary wear rings, an AISI 304 motor sleeve, an AISI 303 shaft on the hydraulic end and a double mechanical seal in an oil chamber. Check valve, overpressure valve, bleed valve and a 0.04 liter expansion vessel are integrated, so the system needs no external tank. IP 68 covers the entire pump and the 49 ft (15 m) supply cord parts at the pump on a quick coupling. Protection against dry running, against burping on aerated water and against a check valve jammed open by grit is all resident on the board.

Choosing the Suction Base

Each DTron 3 duty point comes in either of two suction bases. Hydraulics, motor, electronics, Com Box, cable length, certification and price do not change between them; the water intake does.

Standard suction base. Open filter base whose splitter holds the intake off the very bottom down to a 3.1 in level, trimmable or removable to draw down to 1.38 in remaining. The spacer in the box fixes intake height at 1.4 in, 1.6 in, 2.4 in or 3.1 in off the tank floor. Item codes 60197699 (35/90), 60195642 (45/90) and 60197703 (35/120).
Filter X suction base. A closed base, not watertight, fitted with a 1 in NPT female connection instead of the open strainer. DAB's Kit X threads into that port: a 3.2 ft (1 m) hose on a float that lets the pump take water from a level you choose instead of from settled sand, silt and leaf litter. Pick it for a dug well, a bore with a sediment layer or a cistern nobody cleans. DAB lists Kit X as an option, so confirm what ships in the carton. Item codes 60202765 (35/90), 60202766 (45/90) and 60202767 (35/120).

The two bases do not share a drinking water designation. DAB appends the suffix - NSF to the item description of the three standard base codes and does not append it to the three filter X codes. Against those three standard codes DAB's May 2025 US catalog states approval to NSF 61, NSF 372, UL and CSA standards. The filter X codes carry no NSF designation in DAB's US item list and DAB supplies a drinking water version of the X on request. Specify the standard suction base for potable service.

Only the height changes with the base. Maximum pump diameter stays 7.28 in (185 mm), which DAB's May 2025 US catalog prints as 7.3 in, so either base passes through the same minimum 7.09 in by 7.28 in opening. A standard DTron 3 measures 25.63 in (651 mm) and weighs 25.6 lb; a filter X DTron 3 measures 26.61 in (676 mm) and weighs 25.8 lb.

The pump serves cisterns and rainwater tanks, drilled and dug wells and storage tanks feeding a house, sitting submerged, part submerged, upright or on its side. DAB's DOC68 accessory (item 60192276) takes it out of the water entirely and runs it as an IP 68 flooded suction surface booster. Leave at least 3.28 ft between the suction and the bottom of a well, and suspend the pump slightly clear of the floor so vibration does not carry into the structure.

Available Models

The model name is a nominal duty point: head in meters, then flow in liters per minute. DAB's measured curves land near but not on those names, and the naming rounds in both directions. DAB's own documents disagree about maximum head, and both readings appear below. The primary figures come from DAB's 2020 US technical sheet curve tables and Table 1 of the DTron 3 instruction manual. The Max Head column in DAB's May 2025 US catalog reads 118 ft, 134 ft and 146 ft for these same three item codes, a set that contradicts DAB's curves and puts the 35/120 above the 45/90. Size to the curve figures, and confirm with DAB before committing to a lift near the limit.

DTron 3 35/90: DAB's curve gives 121 ft (37 m) shutoff and 26.4 gpm (100 L/min); the May 2025 catalog row gives 118 ft and 26 gpm. Rated 0.7 HP (0.52 kW) at 60 Hz, 750 W input, 7.4 A at 115V. Entry duty point and the lowest current draw, right for one bathroom or a shallow tank.
DTron 3 45/90: DAB's curve gives 147 ft (45 m) shutoff and 27.7 gpm (105 L/min); the May 2025 catalog row gives 134 ft and 26 gpm. Rated 0.9 HP (0.67 kW) at 60 Hz, 1050 W input, 9.7 A at 115V. The head model, for deep tanks, long runs and upper floors.
DTron 3 35/120: DAB's curve gives 125 ft (38 m) shutoff and 33 gpm (125 L/min); the May 2025 catalog row gives 146 ft and 34 gpm. Rated 0.9 HP (0.67 kW) at 60 Hz, 950 W input, 8.8 A at 115V. The flow model, for several fixtures or irrigation zones together.
