DAB DTron 2 Submersible On-Demand Pressure Pump

The DAB DTron 2 is a 7 in three stage submersible pump that pressurizes a house, a cistern or a well with no controller on the wall and no external pressure tank. Control is straight on/off. An integrated pressure switch and flow switch feed the electronic board, the motor runs at line frequency the moment pressure falls under the cut-in or a tap opens, and it drops out about 10 seconds after flow stops. It is not a variable speed or inverter driven pump. CSA certificate 80018347 tabulates the DTron 2 control type as ON/OFF for all three duty points, and the inverter driven machine in DAB's submersible range is the EsyBox Diver, not the DTron. Cut-in is fixed at the factory at 34.8 psi (2.4 bar): there is nothing to set, nothing to wire and no Com Box. Where an adjustable set point, alarm readout, app monitoring or tank level measurement is wanted, that is the DTron 3.

Construction is technopolymer where water touches it and stainless steel where load is carried. The casing, diffusers and filter are technopolymer for corrosion and oxidation resistance; the three impellers are technopolymer running against AISI 304 floating and stationary wear rings; the motor sleeve is AISI 304 and the hydraulic end of the shaft is AISI 303. A double mechanical seal sits in an oil chamber. A non-return valve, an overpressure valve, a bleed valve for fast first priming and a 0.04 liter expansion vessel are all built inside the pump, which is why no separate pressure tank is required. The complete unit carries IP 68, not merely the motor, and the 49 ft (15 m) cord releases at the pump through a quick coupling with an anti tear-off connection. Three protections run without setup: anti dry run parks the pump and retries on a timed schedule until water returns, anti-burping suppresses false starts on gurgling water, and ANTIFLOOD alarms instead of running on when grit holds the non-return valve open. DAB's NFC Float (item 60184577) drops into a pocket on the pump and speaks to the board with no wiring and without opening the sealed housing.

Choosing the Suction Base

Every DTron 2 duty point is built in two suction bases, and that is the second choice on this page. The hydraulics, motor, electronics, cable length, certification and price are the same either way; what changes is where the pump draws its water from.

Standard suction base. Open filter base with a splitter that keeps the pump off the very bottom down to a 3.1 in level. The splitter can be trimmed or removed to pull down to a 1.38 in remaining level, and the included spacer sets intake height at 1.4 in, 1.6 in, 2.4 in or 3.1 in above the floor of the tank. Item codes 60197689 (35/90), 60195643 (45/90) and 60197690 (35/120).
Filter X suction base. Closed base, not watertight, carrying a 1 in NPT female connection in place of the open bottom strainer. That port takes DAB's Kit X assembly, a 3.2 ft (1 m) suction hose with a float, so the pump draws from a chosen point in the water column rather than off a floor where sand, silt and leaf litter settle. It suits a dug well, a bore with a sediment layer or a cistern that is never cleaned out. Kit X is listed by DAB as an option, so confirm the contents of the carton when you order. Item codes 60202762 (35/90), 60202763 (45/90) and 60202764 (35/120).

Drinking water designation differs between the two bases. DAB appends the suffix - NSF to the item description of the three standard base codes and does not append it to the three filter X codes. DAB's May 2025 US catalog states the DTron 2 is approved to NSF 61, NSF 372, UL and CSA standards against those three standard codes. The filter X codes carry no NSF designation in DAB's US item list, and DAB offers a drinking water version of the X on request. Order the standard suction base for potable service.

The two bases differ dimensionally only in height. Maximum pump diameter is 7.28 in (185 mm) either way, which DAB's May 2025 US catalog rounds to 7.3 in, so both need the same minimum 7.09 in by 7.28 in opening to pass into a tank. A standard DTron 2 stands 24.05 in (611 mm) tall and weighs 25.1 lb; a filter X DTron 2 stands 25.04 in (636 mm) and weighs 25.4 lb.

Typical installations are cisterns and rainwater tanks, drilled and dug wells, and buried or above ground storage tanks feeding a house. The pump can sit fully submerged, partially submerged, vertical or horizontal, and with DAB's DOC68 accessory (item 60192276) it mounts dry outside the tank and runs as an IP 68 flooded suction booster. DAB asks for at least 3.28 ft between the pump suction and the bottom of a well, and that the pump be held slightly clear of the tank floor so it does not transmit noise into the structure.

Available Models

DAB names these pumps by nominal duty point: the first number is nominal maximum head in meters and the second is nominal maximum flow in liters per minute. A 45/90 is nominally 45 m and 90 L/min, a 35/120 is nominally 35 m and 120 L/min, and DAB's measured curves round differently from the names in both directions. Two DAB documents disagree on maximum head and this listing shows both. The figures below are from DAB's 2020 US technical sheet curve tables and Table 1 of the DTron instruction manual. The Max Head column of DAB's May 2025 US catalog instead reads 118 ft on the 35/90, 134 ft on the 45/90 and 146 ft on the 35/120 for these same item codes, which does not agree with DAB's own curves and reverses the ranking of the 45/90 against the 35/120. Size against the curve values below, confirm with DAB before quoting a marginal lift, and do not treat either set as settled.

DTron 2 35/90: 121 ft (37 m) shutoff head and 26.4 gpm (100 L/min) maximum flow on DAB's curve, against 118 ft and 26 gpm in the May 2025 catalog. 0.7 HP (0.52 kW) nominal at 60 Hz, 750 W input, 7.4 A at 115V. The entry model and the lightest draw of the three, suited to a single bathroom or a shallow tank.
DTron 2 45/90: 147 ft (45 m) shutoff head and 27.7 gpm (105 L/min) maximum flow on DAB's curve, against 134 ft and 26 gpm in the May 2025 catalog. 0.9 HP (0.67 kW) nominal at 60 Hz, 1050 W input, 9.7 A at 115V. The high head choice for a deep tank, a long run or a house with upper floors.
DTron 2 35/120: 125 ft (38 m) shutoff head and 33 gpm (125 L/min) maximum flow on DAB's curve, against 146 ft and 34 gpm in the May 2025 catalog. 0.9 HP (0.67 kW) nominal at 60 Hz, 950 W input, 8.8 A at 115V. The high flow choice where several fixtures or irrigation zones run at once.

Key Features

Nothing to mount on the wall. Pressure switch, flow switch, board, check valve and expansion vessel are all sealed inside the pump, so the install is a cord, a discharge pipe and a rope.
On demand starting and stopping. The board picks up the motor when pressure falls below 34.8 psi or flow appears, and lets it go about 10 seconds after the last tap closes.
No pressure tank to buy or charge. The 0.04 liter spring and diaphragm vessel inside the pump absorbs small leaks and water hammer and never needs recharging.
IP 68 end to end. The rating covers the complete pump, so it can stay submerged permanently.
Anti dry run. After 20 seconds with no flow and no pressure the pump alarms and stops, then retries every 30 minutes for 48 attempts and every 24 hours thereafter.
Anti-burping. Air pockets and gurgling water at the intake no longer trigger a false prime.
ANTIFLOOD. The board withholds the motor for 3 seconds at each start and drops it out hourly; if flow never reaches zero it raises an alarm rather than pumping against a jammed check valve.

NFC Float pocket. DAB's NFC float (item 60184577) clips into a seat on the pump and reports level to the board without wiring and without breaking the seal.
Quick coupling cord. The 49 ft cable unplugs at the pump for work inside a tank and resists tear-off.
Modular for service. Hydraulic end, motor, electronics and filter separate independently.
Bleed and overpressure valves. The bleed valve primes quickly on first fill or after a tank runs empty; the overpressure valve guards against water hammer and against ice forming in the discharge.
DOC68 dry mounting. With DAB's DOC68 (item 60192276) the same pump sits outside the tank as an IP 68 flooded suction surface booster.
