DAB Nova UP Vertical Discharge Submersible Pump
The DAB Nova UP is a 115 V single phase submersible drainage pump whose discharge points straight up out of the top of the pump instead of sideways out of the volute. That one change is what the pump is for: the riser leaves the pit vertically, so the pump fits a narrow basin or a tight sump where a side outlet and a 90 degree elbow would not. The pump body, cover and suction grid are hydro resistant technopolymer, the motor casing, rotor shaft and fasteners are stainless steel, and sealing is a threefold arrangement with interposed rings and an oil pre-chamber. The motor is a continuous duty asynchronous submersible type with built in thermal-amperometric protection and a permanently connected capacitor, and the stator sits in an airtight stainless casing with an outer cover protecting the wiring and capacitor. MA versions are automatic and carry a floating arm switch that cycles the pump on level. MNA versions are non-automatic and are supplied without the float. Nova UP passes solids up to 0.4 in, and with the removable filter taken off it will suck down to roughly 0.1 in.
Use it for domestic fixed installations that flood - basements, garages, stairwells and lift pits - and as a portable pump for emergencies: lifting water from tanks or rivers, emptying pools, fountains, excavations and pedestrian subways, and general garden and hobby duty. Because the MA models need clearance for the floating arm to swing, they want a deeper start level than the MNA models: DAB lists the minimum draught depth as 4.7 in for the 300 M-A and 6.5 in for the 600 M-A, against 2.4 in for the 300 M-NA and 2.8 in for the 600 M-NA. If you are working in a shallow basin, the MNA plus an external switch is usually the better answer.
