The DAB EVOSTA2 is a wet rotor electronic circulator built on a permanent magnet synchronous motor with an electronic driver, which DAB describes as an ECM or Electronic Commutation Motor, also called a brushless DC motor. The pump body is cast iron with cataphoresis treatment, the motor casing is AISI 304 stainless steel, the rotor can flange is AISI 316 stainless steel, the impeller is Ultrason, the motor shaft is ceramic alumina with alumina bearings and a graphite axial bearing, the outer shell and cover are polycarbonate and the seals are EPDM. It is rated IP X5, described by DAB as NEMA 4X, with class F insulation and TF 110. Power input is single-phase 110-127 V at 60 Hz, drawing 4 W to 41 W and 0.064 A to 0.61 A, with an energy efficiency index of EEI 0.23 or better. The flange is an oval 2-bolt pattern on a 6-3/8 in centre distance and DAB rates sound at 43 dB(A) or less.

An EVOSTA2 is a direct modern replacement for an old three-speed circulator: DAB built it to the same dimensions as the VA series and it covers heads up to 18 ft with a single model instead of a shelf of them. Its built-in electronics sense what the system is asking for and adapt the circulator's output to match, which is where the energy saving and the quieter operation come from. Setup is one sequential button giving three regulating modes with three curves each: proportional differential pressure, constant differential pressure and constant curve. A breather plug vents the system and manually releases the motor shaft. The pump is self-protected against overload, lack of phase, excess temperature and over- and under-voltage. DAB rates it for water in heating and air conditioning systems and for industrial water circuits, with up to 30 percent glycol.
