Avista - RoClean P303 Low pH Powder Membrane Cleaner
Brand: Avista
RoClean P303 Low pH Powder Membrane Cleaner
Low pH buffered powder cleaner for severe calcium carbonate scale.
RoClean P303 is a multicomponent, low pH, buffered powder cleaner formulated to remove severe calcium carbonate scaling plus moderate metal and metal-organic fouling from reverse osmosis and nanofiltration membranes. It is typically applied for the removal of calcium carbonate scale where a powder product is preferred, using a specialized blend of proprietary buffers, surfactants and chelants. It maintains optimum pH over a wide temperature range.
Fill the cleaning tank with RO permeate or deionized water, heat to the maximum temperature acceptable under the membrane manufacturer guidelines, and add enough P303 for a 2 percent solution by weight for moderate to severe fouling or 1 percent for mild fouling. Run through each stage individually for at least 60 minutes, with an optional soak of up to 8 hours. With carbonate scale the pH tends to rise as acid is consumed, so monitor pH and add cleaner or prepare a fresh batch if it climbs. Rinse with RO permeate before returning to service.

Key Features
- Low pH acidic cleaner: use solution pH 2.4 to 3.8 at 2 percent, 20 C
- Targets severe calcium carbonate scale, with moderate metal and metal-organic fouling as secondary
- Appearance white powder with complete water solubility
- Cleaning concentration 2 percent by weight for moderate to severe fouling, 1 percent for mild
- Maintains optimum pH over a wide temperature range
- NSF certified for use as an off-line cleaner in systems producing potable or drinking water
- Suitable for reverse osmosis and nanofiltration, and for use alongside other Avista cleaners
- Highly buffered to resist pH change during the cleaning cycle
- Recirculate a minimum of 60 minutes per stage; heavily fouled elements may soak up to 8 hours
- Recirculation flow per vessel: 10 gpm (2.4 m3/hr) for 4 inch elements, 40 gpm (9.0 m3/hr) for 8 inch elements
- Compatible with polyamide membranes from all membrane manufacturers
- Mix with RO permeate or deionized water heated to the maximum temperature allowed by the membrane manufacturer
- Unopened shelf life 12 months when stored between 45 and 100 F (7 to 35 C)
