Brand: Avista
Kuriverter IK 110 Biofilm Control Agent
EPA registered slime control agent for membrane systems. EPA Reg. No. 48990-6.
Kuriverter IK 110 is a liquid combination product based on stabilized chlorine compounds which will not deteriorate polyamide membranes. Developed specifically for membrane systems, it is a highly effective slime control agent showing excellent biofilm removal in reverse osmosis systems, where microbiological growth forms biofilm that can block the modules. Typical oxidizers burn off the surface of the biofilm and leave bacteria protected underneath; the non-oxidizing characteristics of Kuriverter IK penetrate the biofilm, create an unfavorable environment and initiate detachment from the membrane surface so the film flushes out in the reject stream.
Kuriverter IK 110 is applied to reverse osmosis systems using a metering pump directly into the feedwater, undiluted, as either continuous injection or intermittent treatment. It may also be injected upstream of pretreatment such as multimedia filtration and cartridge filters to prevent biofouling there. General product concentration in supply water is 5 to 20 ppm. The registered label expresses dosing as total chlorine residual: continuous dosing to 0.1 to 10 ppm total chlorine, or intermittent dosing to the same residual for approximately 3 hours per day or as necessary to maintain RO productivity.
