Kuriverter AC-427 is a modified, odorless liquid sodium bisulfite formulation used to remove free and combined chlorine from reverse osmosis feedwaters. It is stabilized to prevent off-gassing, which makes it suitable for indoor installations, and it is more resistant to air oxidation than typical bisulfite liquids, improving shelf life stability. It removes chlorine more effectively than activated carbon beds and eliminates carbon bed problems including bacterial growth and carbon fines in downstream feedwater.

Kuriverter AC-427 is dosed neat into RO feedwater upstream of the membranes, either as a replacement for or an alternative to an activated carbon bed. It is formulated to be injected undiluted and should not be diluted for use. Published use rates are 6 mg/L of neat product per 1 mg/L of free chlorine and 8.2 mg/L per 1 mg/L of combined chlorine as monochloramine. Kurita recommends multiplying the calculated feed rate by 1.2 to apply a 20 percent safety factor, and confirming chlorine removal by direct chemical analysis.
